Game Modes — Cap 100

Classic, Scout, Blackout, Aliases, Jersey, Daily Challenge, and Stakes: what you see while drafting and how each mode changes the puzzle.

Classic. Full scouting cards: name, team, season, age, and box averages. Classic is the clearest teaching mode and the default competitive ladder for many players. You still must manage the 100 PPG cap and role seats.

Scout Mode. Identity and basic context remain, but detailed box stats stay hidden. Cap math still uses true PPG so the budget is honest; you just cannot lean on the full stat line while choosing.

Blackout. A deterministic set of fields is redacted per player (name, age, position, scoring, or other box categories). Some cards are lightly fogged; others are nearly blank. Blackout rewards flexible reading and risk management under the same 100 cap.

Aliases. Real seasons remain, but displayed names become aliases so recognition from the nameplate alone is harder. Box information still helps you evaluate value; the fog is identity-first.

Jersey. Identity is fogged and the UI leans on season-team uniform numbers plus position and PPG cost. Numbers are stored per season-team when available, so the same player can show different digits across years.

Daily Challenge. Not a separate fog style; it locks today’s mode and franchise seed for everyone. Compete on the Daily board with your first finish of the Pacific day, and keep streaks by returning tomorrow.

Stakes. Available in unrated Head to Head. A shared offer appears; both players bid from the 100-cap budget. The unique high bid wins the player and chooses a role. Stakes replaces PPG spending with bid spending for that mode’s economy while keeping Cap 100’s competitive feel.

Which mode should you play?. Learn in Classic. Test memory in Scout. Play Blackout or Jersey when you want incomplete information. Use Daily for a shared community puzzle. Use Stakes when you want bidding wars with a friend or queue opponent. Fog modes change what you see while drafting; they do not rewrite the underlying player-season once a pick is locked. Cap math and simulation still use the true historical rates. That separation keeps competition fair across Classic and fogged Daily seeds. If you are new, start Classic Free or Classic ranked, then try Scout once you recognize eras and roles. Move to Blackout or Jersey after you are comfortable reading incomplete cards without panic-skipping every scarce board.
